Tjarda Boekholt wins CIDMA Young Doctor Award

The CIDMA Young Doctor Award is a prize for a researcher within 5 years after the PhD, who has made important contributions to his or her research field. The 2018 award is granted to Gr@v member Tjarda Boekholt for his recent achievements in the field of dynamical chaos in astronomical systems. During the annual meeting of CIDMA 2018, Tjarda presented his new numerical N-body code and the ability to obtain reversible solutions to highly chaotic systems.

Successful SKA-day national event!

"SKA days PT" took place last 6 and 7 of February, at Covilhã and Lisbon, an initiative to promote the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) - the world's largest radio telescope - among the Portuguese scientific and business communities.

SKA project has the participation of 19 countries, in the case of Portugal it is via the infrastructure ENGAGE SKA, which is a consortium composed by the Instituto de Telecomunicações, the Universities of Aveiro (Gr@v), Porto and Évora, and the Polytechnic Institute of Beja.

J. Grover joins ESA

Gr@v postdoctoral ​researcher Jai Grover, who has been a member of the group since 2012, has accepted a research fellow position with the European Space Agency. While there h​e will perform research and monitor new developments in fundamental physics that might have implications for present and future ESA missions. Congratulations Jai!

II Physics Meeting in Amazonia

Our group is participating in the organization of the II Physics Meeting in Amazonia, to take place at Universidade Federal do Pará, Belém, Brazil, from 24-28 November 2014. This is a joint meeting of researchers in various topics including gravitational physics and condensed matter. See a beautiful movie about the meeting here.

Basic Guide to CODE.UA & SVN

The University of Aveiro provides a platform to host projects with repositories for version control at code.ua.pt, for members of the University with an email address. Besides providing space for a repository where the files of the project are under version control and can be viewed, edited, shared by several members; it has a very convenient online interface and  allows to set up wiki pages for the users to edit and share.
