CIDMA has an open call for two junior researchers for the period 2020-2023. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or related areas (the scientific areas of Gr@v are elegible). The application period closes on Aug 5 2020.
The U. Aveiro Research Summit took place on 24-26 June 2020. Our group contribute with four student pitches (by A. Pombo, J. Delgado, L. Ventura and J. Oliveira). This year's edition of the Reseach@UA magazine included one Gr@v article as a 2019 reseach highlight and two Gr@v papers in the top 10 cited papers (2014-2019).
The propagation of electromagnetic waves in vacuum is often described within the geometrical optics approximation, which predicts that wave rays follow null geodesics. However, this model is valid only in the limit of infinitely high frequencies.
Pandemia doesn't stop us! Gr@v webinars are the group's virtual meeting place, taking place every week. Interested collegues that wish to join may do so by contacting the group's scientific coordinator.
In this talk, I will briefly introduce our recent work of Dirac quasinormal modes (QNMs) on asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetimes by imposing Robin type vanishing energy flux boundary conditions (BCs). We first study neutral Dirac fields propagating on a Schwarzschild-AdS spacetimes.
CIDMA, the research unit Gr@v integrates, has annouced two one year postdoctoral positions starting in September 2020. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or related areas (the scientific areas of Gr@v are elegible). The application period is May 14th-31st. More details can be found here and here.
Gr@v members António Morais and Felipe Freitas and their students João Pino and Pedro Rodrigues (from left to right on the picture) have participated in the 2020 edition of the CERN masterclass held at the University of Minho and organized by LIP - Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas. The event took place on the 28th of February and on the 6th of March.
Our group coordinated the "Numerical Relativity and High Energy Physics" IRSES network (2012-2015). Here is a list of the global network meetings organized:
