AbstractWe describe a new type of quantum gravity theory which is based on Regge formulation of General Relativity and the assumption that the spacetime is not a smooth manifold but a piecewise linear manifold. By using an appropriate measure the path integral is finite and the corresponding effective action is semiclassical for large edge lengths. Matter can be coupled and one can calculate the effective cosmological constant, which is naturally small, of the order of the observed cosmological constant value.
