Recently, a novel modified theory of gravity that claims to bypass Lovelock's theorem whilst preserving the number of gravitational degrees of freedom has attracted a great deal of attention. This theory, dubbed "4D Einstein Gauss-Bonnet theory", is obtained as a “dimensional regularization” of the higher dimensional theory and presents several interesting features, namely new Black Hole solutions and new Friedmann equations that reduce to the ones from General Relativity in the appropriate limit. In this talk we explore the features, possible concerns and alternative approaches to the novel theory.
