Gr@v is a team of researchers, based at the Mathematics and Physics Department of Aveiro University, Portugal, working on strong gravity and high energy physics. The group was established in 2010. In January 2015 Gr@v integrated the FCT funded CIDMA research unit (UIDB/04106/2020 and UIDP/04106/2020), as the Gravitational Geometry and Dynamics research group. In January 2025 colleagues from the U. Algarve joined CIDMA and the group.
In April 2026 we received the visits of Maryem Jemri (Rabat) and Justin Feng (Prague). Thank you for your seminars and the great scientific interactions!
Gr@v is hosting the visits of Yasha Shnir, long time group collaborator, under an FCT mobility grant, and Mario Luciano Navarro, Ph.D. student from Valencia in the spring 2026. In the photo Yasha and Mario enjoy a bit of sunshine after the weekly group lunch.
Our group is co-organizing the X Amazonian Workshop on Gravity and Analogue Models from 29 June to 3 July in Belém, Brazil. More info here.

The Gr@v coordinator, C. Herdeiro, visited Prague to deliver two seminars, at CEICO and Charles University. The visit provided a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues in a city rich in scientific and cultural heritage - home to figures such as Kepler, Tycho Brahe, Einstein, Doppler, Mach, Bolzano, and Kafka. Many thanks to both groups for their kind hospitality and for making this visit possible.
In January-February we received the visits of Andrea Maselli (Grand Sasso, Italy), Gabriel Ribeiro (UFPA, Brazil) and Juan José Vázquez (INAOE, Mexico). Knowledge transfer in action!
On February 3rd, 2026, our group, together with a few special guests, gathered to bid farewell to our dear colleague Ana Bokulic, who is returning to her hometown of Zagreb. It was a lovely occasion to share memories and good wishes. We also said goodbye to our friend Romain Gervalle (in absentia) as he returns to France. We look forward to welcoming you both again soon!
Our friend and collaborator Haroldo Junior visited Aveiro for a few weeks in February 2026. A former PhD student in Belém/Aveiro and now a faculty member at Universidade Federal do Maranhão in São Luís, it was a pleasure to have him back.
