Gr@v is a team of researchers, based at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, working on gravitational physics in the context of astrophysics, cosmology and high energy physics. The group was established in 2010. In January 2015 Gr@v integrated the FCT funded CIDMA research unit (project UID/MAT/04106/2013), as the Gravitational Geometry and Dynamics research group.
During January 2013, Gr@v members Flávio Coelho and Carlos Herdeiro visited Nagoya University and the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics in Kyoto, Japan, presenting the group's work on black hole and shock wave collisions.
The second meeting of the Numerical Relativity and High Energy Physics Network will take place at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, from 11-14 March 2013. This meeting will take the form of a school to communicate in an accessible way the new developments in the field. The write-up of the school, featuring original material, will be published as a special issue of IJMPA. More info.
Dr. Eugen Radu will join our group in 2013 as an FCT researcher. Dr. Radu, an expert in black hole physics, topological and non-topological solitions and quantum field theory in curved space-time, has been a post-doctoral researcher/research fellow in Germany, Ireland and France and has co-authored over one hundred published papers in peer-reviewed journals. Welcome Eugen!
The NRHEP white paper edited by V. Cardoso, L. Gualtieri, C. Herdeiro and U. Sperhake was published as a Focus paper in Classical and Quantum Gravity. This paper was a written summary of the discussions and presentations that took place in the Numerical Relativity and High Energy Physics Workshop, organized in Madeira, Portugal in the Summer 2011.
Our group co-organized and participated in the Amazonian workshop on Black Holes and Analogue models of gravity, held at Universidade Federal do Pará, in Belém do Pará, gateway to the Amazonian region of Brazil from 7-9 August 2012.
