Gr@v is a team of researchers, based at the Mathematics and Physics Department of Aveiro University, Portugal, working on strong gravity and high energy physics. The group was established in 2010. In January 2015 Gr@v integrated the FCT funded CIDMA research unit (UIDB/04106/2020 and UIDP/04106/2020), as the Gravitational Geometry and Dynamics research group. In January 2025 colleagues from the U. Algarve joined CIDMA and the group.
The Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT) announced the 6th edition of the individual call to scientific employment stimulus, open from April 4th to May 3rd 2023, for researchers with a Ph.D. and including four different seniority levels. Applications require the support of a host research unit. Researchers wishing to join our group should contact the group coordinator (C. Herdeiro).
Gr@v member P. Cunha presented an invited seminar in the Physics Department of the University of Vienna.
The recent Gr@v work on the fate of the Light Ring instability (arXiv:2207.13713) will appear in the prestigious Physical Review Letters.
Jose Blázquez-Salcedo (Complutense, Madrid), Romain Gervalle (Tours), Fech Scen Khoo (Oldenburg) and Tigran Tchrakian (DIAS, Dublin) visited us in the week of Dec. 5 2022, and lectured in the 1 day Strong Gravity Workshop our group organized.
On November 29, Gr@v member Nuno M. Santos gave an outreach seminar at Universidade Federal do Pará (Campus Salinópolis) on the peculiar nature of black holes and the observational evidence for their existence. He was hosted by Prof. Carolina Benone, a former Gr@v member and current collaborator.
Our group is organizing a 1-day strong gravity mini-workshop on Dec 5th 2022.

The VIII Amazoniana Workshop on Gravity and Analogue models took place from 21-25 November 2022. The video recording of the courses and lectures will soon be put online.
The Latin American Symposium on High Energy Physics 2022 (XIV SILAFAE) took place in Quito, Ecuador, from 14-18 November 2022. Gr@v member C. Herdeiro was one of the invited speakers.
A call for a 1 year (post-doctoral) researcher position in Strong Gravity. within the research grant “Gravitational Waves and black holes as ultralight dark matter particle detectors", CERN/FIS-PAR/0024/2021, is open.
