On September 14, the Fábrica Centro de Ciência Viva de Aveiro hosted a full-day event dedicated to gravitational waves and gravitation, bringing together audiences of all ages to celebrate science, discovery, and knowledge sharing.
The program featured two exhibitions open throughout the day — “Journey through the Dark Universe” and “Traces of Curvature: Gravity at the University of Aveiro” — along with a diverse set of hands-on activities designed to engage the public, with particular attention to younger participants. Highlights included the workshop “3, 2, 1… Launch a Probe”, the science storytelling session “The Story of a Launch”, the Robots Workshop: “Journey through the Solar System”, and The Kitchen as a Laboratory: “Galactic Cupcakes”.
The day concluded with an inspiring public lecture by Professor Carlos Herdeiro, entitled “Gravitational Waves: The True Celestial Music”, followed by a convivial reception generously offered by the Fábrica to all participants.
This memorable event was made possible thanks to the support and close collaboration of the Fábrica Centro de Ciência Viva de Aveiro. We extend our sincere gratitude to its director, Professor Pedro Pombo, for his enthusiasm and commitment, as well as to the dedicated team involved, in particular Miguel Cardoso and Regina Sousa. We also acknowledge with appreciation the Gravitation Group of the University of Aveiro, whose contribution was essential to the success of this initiative.
