Gr@v is a team of researchers, based at the Mathematics and Physics Department of Aveiro University, Portugal, working on strong gravity and high energy physics. The group was established in 2010. In January 2015 Gr@v integrated the FCT funded CIDMA research unit (UIDB/04106/2020 and UIDP/04106/2020), as the Gravitational Geometry and Dynamics research group. The group scientific coordinator is C. Herdeiro.
An outstanding workshop took place at the University of Cambridge, with participation of Gr@v members M. Sampaio and C. Herdeiro. The latter presented a talk on "Kerr black holes with scalar hair", based on arXiv:1403.2757 in collaboration with E. Radu.
Our group was at Los Cabos, Mexico, the inspiring venue for the 2014 edition of the Cosmology on the Beach conference, co-organized by the Nobel Laureate George Smoot (having a laugh at the centre).

Flávio Coelho is currently visiting Wits University in South Africa, to continue his work on n-DBI gravity in collaboration with Shinji Hirano, who joined the academic staff of Wits in 2013.

The Physics Nobel Prize 2013 was awarded to F. Englert and P. Higgs, "for the theoretical discovery of a mechanics that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles". A great day for particle physics! Read here an account by Gr@v researchers.
Thomas Metcalf, a graduate student from the University of Edinburgh, is visiting our group from October to December 2013. Thomas is currently working with João Rosa in particle physics and cosmological models of warm inflation.
The radio astronomer Paulo Freire, from the Max Planck Institute at Bonn, visited our group on September 23 and presented the latest developments on "Pulsar timing: a unique tool in Astrophysics". Paulo Freire is currently leading an ERC funded project for testing General Relativity and other theories of gravity with pulsars. Watch the seminar here.
The proceedings of the NR/HEP2 Spring School, integrated in the "Numerical Relativity and High Energy Physics" network, have now been published as a special issue by the International Journal of Modern Physics A, edited by V. Cardoso, L. Gualtieri, C. Herdeiro and U. Sperhake.
