The article "Knotty inflation and the dimensionality of spacetime", co-authored by Gr@v member João Rosa, was recently featured in the popular science magazine New Scientist, with comments by Prof. Alan Guth. This article proposes a new mechanism to explain the dimensionality of spacetime, based on the idea that inflation can be driven by a tightly knotted/linked network of flux tubes that is topologically stable only in three spatial dimensions.
